Description: 
This very unique artifact was cast from a Mesoamerican toad, Bufo marinus. The toad produces a skin toxin which causes hallucinogenic visions and/or death. Archaeological excavations of middens and ceremonial burials of the Olmec culture in Southern Veracruz have yielded large numbers of toad skeletal remains.
Materials: 
Ceramic: brown clay with traces of red pigment. Mold made case of Bufo marinus.
